Regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm on September 8, 2011 by Mayor Ron Honsicker.
Council members in attendance were: Shirley Pennington, Carl Foultz, and Bob McDevitt.
The pledge of allegiance was recited in unison.
Total number in attendance was a total of 16.
Reading of the minutes by Shirley Pennington. Motion was made by Bob and 2nd by Carl to accept the minutes as read.
Treasurer’s report was read by Carl Foultz. Motion was made by Shirley and 2nd by Bob to accept the treasurer’s report as read.
Committee Reports:
Budget – Will be due March or April of next year.
Code Enforcement – There was no permit issued to demolish the property on 46 Hubbard Avenue and the county was notified.
Parks and Recreation – There will be a community picnic on 9/24/11 starting at 1pm. Bring your own drink and covered dish.
Main Street Park – Drawings are done.
Old Business:
Drainage – Environmental letters went out today. Bonnie and Rich Oliver are trying to do as much as they can to save the town money. There is money available that they are trying to figure out what best suits our needs,

Channel Dredging – No Report
Mosquito Control – Have been sprayed due to the large number of mosquitos in our area.

There were questions asked about the condemned property on Hubbard Avenue.
Carl reported when the last donation was given to the fire company. Mayor Ron commented on the outstanding way that the Fire Company conducted themselves during Hurricane Irene. He suggested a donation of $1,000.00 for their efforts. A motion was made by Bob and 2nd by Carl to write a check to the Bowers Fire Company in the amount of $1,000.00.
Shirley reported on Leiba Kaplan and encouraged her neighbors to check in on her as she home bound for a while until her knees heal.
Judy Martin reported that the Big Thursday celebration had to be moved inside due to the weather conditions. The parade was canceled along with the Car Show. She thanked the Fire Company for the use of the hall for the day.
Residents that live behind Cooper Avenue said that they now have rats in their house due to the ditch that is behind them. Mayor Ron explained that the ditch is not the Town’s responsibility and that they would have to make phone calls to the proper agencies to get something done.
There being no further business a motion was made by Shirley , 2nd by Bob to adjourn the meeting @ 7:55 pm.
